It’s easy for a lot of drivers to forget how hard it is to get around our communities. If you have a friend who doesn’t drive, or maybe young family members that need ferried about, you will appreciate how much of a boundary this can be for a lot of people.

That’s why it’s so important for us at The Gate to be able to get out and about to bring people the help they need.

For that we rely on our volunteer drivers. Whether it’s collecting donations, or delivering our Cafe Xtra programme – bringing lunch to over 65’s, or our Fakeaway and Bread Van nights stopping food from going to waste. Our drivers are absolutely vital.

We also sadly don’t have enough of them. 

Due to a lack of drivers we have had to seriously limit some of our services, with the Fakeaway and Bread bin nights being temporarily cancelled. How temporarily could depend on you. If you are over 30 and have a full drivers license, we’d really appreciate your help. You don’t have to commit to regular hours, you can join our ad hoc bank of drivers, and when you’re needed and you have the time, you can help us out.
