BSC Glasgow supports The Gate

ALLOA-BASED BSC Glasgow will donate the admission takings from their upcoming SFA South Challenge Cup match against Edusport Academy to The Gate Charity.

BSC have been ground-sharing with Alloa Athletic for the last two seasons and the club have also given away 50 free tickets to the match for service users at The Gate to go along to The Indodrill Stadium to enjoy the match.
George Fraser, BSC Glasgow’s general manager, said: “We have been playing in Alloa for a couple of seasons and we want to give back the warm welcome we’ve been given by the local community by donating our admission takings to The Gate, a charity which we believe do fantastic work in the community, offering an array of projects all designed to help people in need.
“The South Challenge Cup is always an exciting tournament for us and it’s one that we won in our inaugural season. We’re really looking forward to welcoming people from The Gate to enjoy what’s always an exciting match between ourselves and Edusport Academy.”
Marie Brownhill, Centre Manager at The Gate, added: “We are absolutely delighted to be supported by BSC Glasgow with this very kind donation of help.
“The Gate Charity operates various projects such as a Crisis Foodbank, Soup Pot, Community Café and Home Starter Pack service as well as smaller community services to help overcome social isolation, homelessness, poverty, mental health issues and addiction.
“As a charity, we are constantly fundraising and trying to raise much needed funds to operate our projects to support the most vulnerable within our community. We can’t thank BSC Glasgow enough for their very valued help and support.”
Admission at The Indodrill Stadium on Saturday is £4 for adults and £2 for concessions, with everything taken on the door being donated.
The club are encouraging everyone to come out and roar the side onto victory while supporting a fantastic local organisation.

School Uniform Bank 2018

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated school uniforms and equipment to support our Annual School Uniform Bank 2018!

We have been overwhelmed by the support, especially from a gentleman who spent £135 on new school bags and Tesco customers who donated new clothing to support vulnerable children within Clackmannanshire.

We provided 318 children with uniforms and equipment such as stationery, school bags and lunch boxes in partnership with MSP Keith Brown and Councillor Ellen Forson. The local Yorkshire Building Society were also a great support towards the end of the project. Staff from the local office provided great assistance to help us with the big “clear up” after the project ended.

We could not have operated this project without the valued support from the community who donated clothing and our valued team of volunteers who supported the operations before, during and after project ended. THANK YOU!

Prize Bingo Fundraising Success

We would like to thank everyone who recently attended our fundraising event. Last Thursday we held a prize bingo evening and raised £404 to help operate our projects. Everyone who came along thoroughly enjoyed the evening and our crazy bingo caller Mr Alan Faulds made the night even more fun with his humour and dedication. Alan is a great supporter of The Gate and it was lovely to see him again. Hopefully, there will be another event soon, offering a fun social evening for the Wee County whilst raising much needed funds for The Gate Charity.

Thanks again for all the support before, during and after the event!

Annual School Uniform Bank to Return July 2018

We are now collecting donations of school uniforms and equipment until the 18th July 2018 to operate our Annual School Uniform Bank.

The purpose of the project is to provide vulnerable children with uniforms and equipment to return to school with dignity and pride. We could not operate this project without the wonderful support we receive from the community. Everyone gets behind this project by recycling good quality used clothes to benefit other children within the Wee County. Last year we provided 318 children with uniforms and we are hoping to reach more children and families this year with the help from the local community.

The OPEN WEEK will be held from Monday 23 July to Friday 27 July 2018, 2pm – 4pm at The Gate Centre. There is no charge for the uniforms and equipment although we welcome donations if possible.

Any professionals supporting vulnerable children can telephone to refer families for support. We offer uniforms and equipment to referrers before the general public to ensure that the most vulnerable children have first access to stock and equipment. Please telephone 01259 218766 for further information. Thank you in advance for any assistance or donations you may provide, we welcome and need your support!

Thank You Dollar Academy

We would like to say a huge thank you to Carol Fitzpatrick [musical director] and pupils from Dollar Academy who recently held a concert to raise much needed funds for our charity.  On the night, over £1000 was raised and the evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all.  Pupils played a variety of instruments and choirs sang their hearts out to a live audience who were mesmerized by every pupil and staff member’s amazing talent.

We would also like to thank the wonderful Ernest Sangster [Gate Volunteer] who organised the evening together with the academy’s principal and musical director.

We could not operate our projects without the valued support from our community to help the most vulnerable people living within Clackmannanshire.   We thoroughly appreciated the support from all involved!

Thank You Coop Funeralcare

We would like to thank Alloa’s Coop Funeralcare for their recent donation of Easter eggs and soft toys which were distributed out in family food parcels supporting the most vulnerable children living within Clackmannanshire.

SDS supports our Boiler Room Refurbishments

Recently we secured funding to purchased an urgently needed new boiler.  However, our boiler room was really run down.  The ceiling was full of holes, the walls were desperately needing painted and the whole room generally needed some much needed TLC.  However, with no funds we were struggling to complete the works.  We warmly welcomed SDS (Skills Development Scotland) donation of £75 to purchase paint and items for improvements.  SDS won the cash from a window display competition and were keen to support our needs.  We are now in the process of carrying out repairs and renovations after we all met at Buicks to purchase materials.  Thanks again SDS for the support!
