Our Purpose
The Gate exists to prevent and relieve poverty and improve the conditions of life of people who are marginalised, vulnerable, experiencing social exclusion or homelessness across Clackmannanshire.
We achieve this by providing practical support to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship, including access to food, affordable essentials, clothing and community-based services that help people meet their immediate needs with dignity.
We also recognise that preventing poverty means helping people build the confidence, knowledge and skills needed to improve their circumstances. Through education, employability support, digital inclusion, volunteering opportunities and life skills training, we help people increase their independence, improve their wellbeing and create pathways out of poverty.
Alongside our direct support services, we provide welcoming community spaces where people can reduce social isolation, access advice and support, develop new skills and build positive connections within their community.
We are committed to making the best use of resources by rescuing surplus food, reducing waste and promoting sustainable practices, ensuring that more food reaches people who need it while helping to protect the environment.
Everything we do is focused on relieving poverty, supporting those experiencing disadvantage and helping people build stronger, healthier and more resilient lives.
