On the 31st of July we will be opening our new charity shop at 69 Mill Street, Alloa, FK10 1DX. Pop-in for a look!

Pop-Up School Uniform Bank 2023

Come along to our annual pop-up School Uniform Bank event at 2 Ludgate, Alloa, FK10 2DR!

We are open to everyone on the 19th- 21st of July 10am-1pm.

We will have shirts, skirts, trousers, school bags, stationery and shoes and we are also going to trial a school blazer and coat hire scheme where you pay a £5 deposit and return it at the end of the school year.

All our uniform is brand new or in excellent condition and by using our uniform bank, you are helping to save the environment by preventing shops from sending perfectly good clothes to landfill, so do your bit to save the planet!

Charity Shop Manager – Job Share

Two positions available

18 hours over three days – including alternate Saturday’s.

Hourly rate of £11.50

The Gate trading purpose:

  • To maximise and generate as much income as possible to help overcome poverty and suffering in Clackmannanshire.
  • To provide a sustainable and ethical recycling option for the community.

Our Charity shop has been open for business since 2021, helping us to raise vital funds and increasing public awareness of what we do for the community. We are proud to say that we can re-use or recycle more than 90% of donated items.

Role of our shop managers:

To be commercially aware and constantly looking for new business opportunities, shop managers motivate their teams and create an energised work environment.

Shop managers are essential for the success of the charity shop and can make a real difference. We like our volunteers to feel empowered and proficient in carrying out the managers tasks including running of the shop in the managers absence. With the ability to delegate and communicate to teams, managers are creative and always looking for ways to attract new supporters and donors every day.

Shop Floor

Be accountable for sourcing sufficient levels of donated stock locally.

Manage all aspects of health & safety.

Set high standards of cleanliness, display, and merchandising.

Establish efficient and commercially successful stock processing systems (such as pricing, quality standards, consumer safety, stock density and culling stock), including backroom systems and ensure these are adhered to by the volunteer team.

Ensure that all legal and internal regulations regarding donated stock are adhered to.

Inspire the team to provide a great customer and donor experience, which enables The Gate to attract new supporters every day.

Ensure that feedback, including complaints is responded to.

Empower the team to create original, appropriate, and commercially successful visual merchandising displays, including shop windows.

Enable the team to promote seasonal/topical promotions.
